I know it doesn't match 100% with the comic, but really entertaining and it was close to the comic I thought. Maybe I don't know enough. My nephew Kenny says Sabertooth is his Dad not brother and there is no Agent Zero. Entertaining and tons of action. Even Katie liked it! Go see it!

Hiring Don'ts
In my short time helping out my team with recruiting, I found some Hiring Don’ts that I wanted to share.
- Keep your resume brief, a 16 page document is a bit excessive for a resume.
- Don’t take phone calls and have the interviewer wait on you unless it is absolutely urgent.
- On your first phone interview do not ask if you can telecommute. This is could be a make it or break it question.
- Don’t show up to your job interview with your current companies’ lanyard and badge dangling around your neck. You’re going to a new company, let the old company go.
- When you receive a letter stating that you are not a match, justifying why you should be hired is ok, but DEMANDING that the employer reconsider their decision is not.
- When you receive a letter saying that you are not a match, there is no need to go through all the top companies you have been rejected from and ask for feedback why the recruiter thinks you were rejected from all of them.
- Do not justify that you are a hard worker and that you never quit because you have been laid off from every job you’ve ever had.
- When asked a technical question, answer the question, do not only tell the interviewer that he has nice handwriting.
- Placing interesting facts on your resume is great, but your gender, age and state of health is simply too much information.
- Don’t ask the recruiter multiple times what job you are interviewing for and to send the job description. Read through the mail threads and at the least what is listed in the subject line, use the search feature in your mailbox.
- Even if you run spell check, certain tools may correct inadvertently. For example MicroStrategy can become Microsurgery. Read your resume carefully.
- Do not insult the interviewer by saying he had a heavy accent when you had one as well.
- Do not e-mail the hiring manager back and say that you are “shocked” that you were rejected because you “felt” that you answered all the questions correctly. If we were on the fence about you, you are off the list completely.
- Also don’t say statements to the recruiter when you were not a match “no wonder you’ve have been looking for awhile,” companies want to hire the best folks with good attitudes as well.
- If you get rejected, pick yourself up and be professional about it. No amount of arguing is going to change the resolution, sometimes you are just not the right level or personality for the team. It happens, move on.
- Don’t say that you did not know what you were doing at your last job.
- Don’t claim to be a guru in anything unless you really are one. Chances are there is a guru in the interview chain and you may be in for a long interview.
- Do not fall asleep in the lobby of your first interview when the recruiter has been called already. Get enough rest, coffee, tea, something.
- On a phone screen, be sure to mute your phone when you are typing keywords into Wikipedia. I know you can’t stall if you are muted though, probably better to be who you are and not claim to be someone you are not.

Please proceed to this URL and forward me resumes and the job descriptions they are interested in so I can refer them! http://www.tinyurl.com/linkedinhiring please forward good candidates directly to me!
New Grad 09 Website!
I need your help! I am trying to get this new grad site linked to as many university career centers as possible to link this to their page to help new grads. If you can help me do this and forward the evidence that you have done so, I can throw your school in the mix and get some kudos. I have e-mail templates, ping me if you would like to help!

Snippets of Thought
It has been 9 weeks since I've blogged and well even seen my family. This last quarter was the toughest in the Evening Weekend Berkeley MBA program. The quarter consisted of two heavily quantitative courses in the subjects of Finance and Operations. There were about 2 group cases and 1 individual homework due per week, and a ton of material to go through. I am thankful that there are 8 more weeks and I will close out my first year. It has been a tough race with 9 week sprints of core classes, but it appears that I will survive.
Due to time limits I will shoot out some snippets of thought.
- I've learned that I actually love Jasmine Tea and of course have my own stash of Ten Ren Green Tea at work as well
- My Voyager phone is running low on batteries and IT has lent me a Blackberry Storm. Thus far performance is a major issue but what choice do I have on the Verizon network?
- Can't wait to rest this summer from a grueling school year!
- Looking forward to Felicia coming home for a bit I have been missing my entertaining friend!
- Big thanks to Felicia (especially) -> Tracy -> Pam and getting me some music from HK!
- I've always enjoyed the love compilations from Hong Kong. VA-Love 08 has not been a disappointment thus far and I am only on the first CD. The Chinese definitely should not rap or do rock, the traditional music is love songs and this album is a must buy http://www.hmv.com.hk/product/canto.asp?sku=253450
- Andy Lau's newest album Love Hope reaffirms to me, that he should have stuck with acting and not ventured into singing. He has a low range of vocals and the best songs he had were back in the 80's just because they were classics. You can pass on this CD despite all the hype http://www.hmv.com.hk/product/canto.asp?sku=197581. There are a few ok songs I Wish wasn't too bad. From a Mandarin speakers perspective, another thing that Cantonese people should not do is try to sing Mandarin songs.
- The Eason Chan Best Buy Top 48 is a bargain of course. I found a few good songs on here. Overall he is just alright to me. He goes the traditional route but doesn't have the higher notes in his range to back it up. I still love my Alan Tam. http://www.hmv.com.hk/product/canto.asp?sku=235646
- Eason does have new album I may take a listen to though! H3M http://www.hmv.com.hk/product/canto.asp?sku=406061

Dedicated To My Nieces and Nephews
Many deep thoughts have crossed my mind of late, especially to those poor friendships that I have had in my past. It is simply disappointing to cross paths with people that just don't seem to have the right definition of what loyalty and respect mean. Although, I am thankful for the handful of great friends I do have, I am also saddened at the history of bad ones.
How do you overcome the bad people that you meet? I make it a goal to teach the next generation properly, to value the right things and also to guard against those bad folks that may cross their paths so they are prepared for such encounters.
Times like these make me think about family, because family tends to be the only constant unconditional in greek Agape love. Beyond my immediate family I wanted to make a dedication to my nieces and nephews who I know often read this blog! Here we are Chinese New Year with our Cal gear!

From bottom left to right. The little girl posing is Victoria nicknamed Bear. She has quite a personality developing and is very considerate ever since she was little. The youngest of the bunch is young Felicity with the pacifier in her mouth. She has brought so much joy to her family and I have not seen a prouder father! Of course little Ava there in the mix with her Google bib! Next to Ava is Ashlyn who has grown up to be the sum of her sisters and then some! She is a great big sister to Ava also sweet and considerate! On the far right is Alicia nicknamed Pizza who is perhaps the goofiest of the bunch but growing up very quickly probably following the lead of her big sister. Also missing is Jaylen and Jacob who I know are going to be football players someday in the future! You kids have too much energy!
The top row is what I consider the original 3 (Kenny missing). The original 3 are kids that I have had the honor of being Uncle to for over 10 years. From the left is Vincent who is growing up to be a young gentleman and I am proud of the man he has become. His latest lesson is on responsibility and earning money from chores to buy what he likes. On the right is Amanda Panda who is also growing up to be a young lady but hopefully not too fast. Amanda always had a good night note for me when we were in Hong Kong and she has a wonderful heart. Last but definitely not least is Kenny who was not in the picture. Kenny I have known for more than half of his life and I have not met a smarter kid trying to find his way. I am confident that his college years will guide him to the future that he seeks.
How do you overcome the bad people that you meet? I make it a goal to teach the next generation properly, to value the right things and also to guard against those bad folks that may cross their paths so they are prepared for such encounters.
To all my nieces and nephews, your Uncle sends his love from California!
